The project consists of two monoliths or stelae, artist designed benches and a cobblestone surround at two locations along Central Avenue in NE Minneapolis. The stelae depict the history of the neighborhood. The Flying Wheat Stalk (north stelae) consists of a wheat stalk crown ornament and represents the milling industry. The 4020 (south stele) includes a steam locomotive at the top, representing the Shoreham train yard. Thematic bronze and terra cotta relief sculpture adorn the sides of each stelae. The sculptural forms are intended to engage both pedestrian and automobile traffic.
